Six years on. I wonder when I will become tenured…

maratraining: week 1 redux
So I registered for the Marine Corps Marathon, and I figure it’s about time I start preparing for it. My goal is to finish…period. And that’s it.
For the next 20 weeks, I expect to make updates on how my “training” is progressing. I’m off to a pretty lousy start…
| date | dist. | time | route | notes | |
| 6/12 | 3 | 31:10 | link | splits: 8:49, 12:11, 10:10, time of day: 5:00 PM, temp: 86 Walked most of 2nd mile, rained lightly during 3rd mile, but it didn’t really bother me. Mostly level, but end of run was uphill. |
|
| 6/13 | 3 | 32:17 | splits: 9:42, 10:10, 12:25, time of day: 6:30 PM, indoors Walked first 2/10 of 3rd mile. |

| 6/14 | 2.5 | 30:00 | link | splits: 9:55 (mile 1), walked mins. 14 - 26, stopped after 30:00, time of day: 7:30 PM, temp: 65 Left knee and left glute ached and I couldn’t really run. |
|
| 6/17 | 4.7 | 57:24 | link | splits: 9:44 (mile 1), 10:20 (mile 2), 5:09 (mile 2.5), walked for 20:37, 11:35 (last mile), time of day: 8:00 PM, temp: 79 Road didn’t exist on originally planned route (fuckin’ Google maps!), ended up running 0.5 miles through a field. When the grass got chest-high, I turned around and walked for a bit to rejoin the road and then ran the last mile home. Left glute still aches really bad, but knee is fine. |

balloons vs. blimps?
I just saw the Goodyear Blimp and the RE/MAX Balloon simultaneously in the skies over Frederick. I think they were fighting for corporate air supremacy of western Maryland…
